As I grew up, I dreamed of becoming a chef. After "taking a year off" from school before departing for culinary school, I learned that taking a year off (for me) means never going. I spent the next 10 years in the food and beverage industry. I spent all my free time at every job in the kitchens asking every question under the sun of every chef I ever worked with. At the age of 18, I was a waitress in a family restaurant. By the time I was 25, I spent 3 years as the catering director at NBC Studios at Rockefeller Center. At the end of my food service tenure, I decided I was much happier in my own kitchen cooking for my friends and family.
I am an anal retentive, over achieving, slightly OCD home cook. I love food, wine, friends and entertaining. My background has left me always wanting to play hostess on a grand scale. I am married to Nico, an Austrian, and enjoy experimenting with his native cuisine and incorporating his traditions with my American traditions. I love teaching our children, Evelyn and William, about their heritage through food. Expect to see a good mix of very Germanic and Austrian specialties, although it won't dominate my postings.
